Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) has appointed former Australia all-rounder Tom Moody as their new Director of Cricket for three years. 

Tom Moody's appointment came after recommendations made by the Technical Advisory Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket after the recent poor showings against South Africa and England. 

The 1987 and 1999 World Cup winner Moody has previously worked as the coach of Sri Lanka for two years and under his tenure, Sri Lanka managed to reach the finals of the 2007 World Cup in West Indies.

Addressing Moody’s job profile Sri Lanka Cricket released a statement that read:

“His job profile entails- the Analysis of the Tour Program, focusing on the Domestic Tournament Structure, Player Welfare, Education and Skill Development, Coaching and Support Staff Structure and High Performance and Data Analytics”, SLC stated in a statement.

Tom Moody likely to be named as Sri Lanka's Director of Cricket

Talking about Tom Moody’s appointment as a Director of Cricket, Sri Lanka Cricket CEO Ashley de Silva said that the latter will add greater value to their game. 

“Tom has worked with Sri Lanka Cricket in the past and has shown results and I am sure with his working knowledge of the system, Tom will add greater value to our game,” SLC CEO Ashley de Silva said.

Tom Moody has also served as the coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and will also be the Director of Cricket for the franchise this year. 

The 55-years-old has also served as the director of cricket of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL)
