Chris Gayle mocks Shahid Afridi for being an inconsistent power-hitter

Gayle and Afridi are currently plying their trades in the sixth edition of Pakistan Super League.

Shahid Afridi | GettyWest Indies opener Chris Gayle recently took a jibe at former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi over the latter’s inconsistency with the bat.

The two cricketers are currently plying their trades in the sixth edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL). While Afridi is playing for Multan Sultans, Gayle is representing Quetta Gladiators.

In an exclusive chat with Geo Super, Gayle shared his game plan and provided some tips to budding cricketers who want to grow as power hitters.

“It is all about the strategy of how you go about a game. It's not like I plan to score a century but the situation of the game [decides it] so you break down a game stage by stage,” Gayle said.

“It's not all about hitting big sixes; it is all about strategy and the momentum to have in that particular game as well.”

The 41-year-old also used this opportunity to mock Afridi for being an inconsistent power-hitter.

When enquired why Pakistani batsmen are inconsistent when it comes to power-hitting, Gayle quipped: “Maybe they were trying to follow Afridi”.

“You don’t try to hit every ball, just target the bowler you want to hit and want to take maximum runs off. Strategise how you're going to go about in innings,” he further remarked.
