Pakistan Prime Minister and former skipper Imran Khan on Sunday (February 14) acknowledged Team India’s dominance in the game, opining that the neighbours emerged as a top side after improving their cricket structure.
According to Imran, Pakistan have got more talent than India but could not become a world beating team because of the non productive cricket structure.
“Look at India today, they are becoming a top team in the world because they improved their structure although we have more talent,” Imran said while talking to the media in Islamabad on Sunday (February 14).
“It takes time for a structure to work and polish talent but I am confident our team will become world beaters,” he added.
Imran believes with the provincial cricket structure in place now, Pakistan will produce better results in two to three years’ time.
“Honestly speaking I am not able to spare time for cricket and have not even watched the matches but now that our basic cricket structure has been changed things will improve gradually,” he remarked.
As a Prime Minister, Imran Khan is keen to take Pakistan cricket team to great heights. Soon after winning the elections in 2018, he appointed former ICC President Ehsan Mani as PCB’s chairman.
In the last two years, the domestic cricket structure has been completely revamped with only six provincial teams playing first class cricket compared to around 16 regional and departmental teams in the past.
