Australian pacer Mitchell Starc on Tuesday confirmed that he will not play in the BBL 10 final for the Sydney Sixers, to be played at the SCG on February 6.

The defending champions of the BBL, Sydney Sixers are just one step away from their third Big Bash League title. They also became the first team to secure a place in the BBL final after defeating Perth Scorchers in the qualifier.

Earlier, Sydney Sixers head coach Greg Shipperd on Monday had said that the side is considering playing Mitchell Starc in the finals of the Big Bash League (BBL) but the last call will be taken once it is decided whether the pacer is fit or not.

Mitchell Starc however cleared all the speculations regarding his participation in the finals of the tournament and said he’s behind the team for another big win on Saturday.

"The guys have done so well this year and I think it's in everyone's best interests to stick with the guys that have worked so hard to get to this point. I've always felt part of the club and I am right behind them for another big win on Saturday night," Mitchell Starc said in an official statement.

Sydney Sixers signed Mitchell Starc in November 2020 with the hope of him playing the final few games of the BBL season however those plans flopped as the former sustained a hamstring injury during the fourth Test-match of the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar trophy.

The Perth Scorchers will play Brisbane Heat in the challenger on Thursday to decide who will play Sydney Sixers in the finals, which will take place on 6th February.
