Ace Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is a major doubt for the upcoming two-Test series against West Indies and the upcoming tour of New Zealand because of the groin injury and personal reasons.

Shakib has made a brilliant comeback to international cricket after his one-year ban for failing to report corruption approaches in the recent home ODI series against West Indies.

He scored 113 runs and claimed six wickets to win the Player of the Series award before picked up a groin injury in the final ODI. He pulled up while bowling his fifth over in the third and final ODI and eventually he had to leave the field after receiving the physio's attention and Soumya Sarkar had to complete his over.

However, the all-rounder will have to wait for the next 24-hour to know the full extent of the groin injury.

The veteran cricketer had admitted “it doesn’t look very good at the moment” about the injury after Bangladesh defeated West Indies by 120 runs in the final ODI to lift the trophy 3-0 and 3-0 result and grab the second position in the ODI Super League points table with 30 points.

Shakib said after the final ODI: “First of all, I need to see how I'll pull up tomorrow. At this point, the groin doesn't look alright but we need to see after 24 hours.”

Meanwhile, it is being said that the all-rounder might skip Bangladesh’s upcoming tour of New Zealand tour – comprising three one-day internationals and three Twenty20 internationals, in order to be with his pregnant wife, as the couple is expecting their second child in the United States of America.

Noteworthy, the injury would certainly affect Shakib’s participation in the upcoming two-Test series starting on February 3 in Chittagong against the West Indies, but the all-rounder has reportedly made it clear that he would make an announcement about his paternity leave only after the home Tests.
