BAN v WI 2021: Bangladesh's Shakib Al Hasan earns unique record as an all-rounder

Bangladesh stalwart Shakib Al Hasan is one of the best all-rounders in international cricket at the moment, representing his nation at the highest level for over 14 years. He has seen all the ups and downs in all formats of the game and has quietly become a legend of the game.

The 33-year-old is currently back playing for Bangladesh after serving a ban due to off-the-field activities. Shakib made a blasting return to international cricket in the ODI series against the West Indies with figures of 4/8 in the first match.

He picked 2/30 in the second match and remained unbeaten on 43 during Bangladesh's chase of 149.

In the first innings of the third ODI at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, he scored 51 off 81 deliveries and made an all-around record that nobody has done before.

En route to his 51, Shakib Al Hasan became the first cricketer to score 6000 runs and pick up 300 wickets in a particular country in international cricket.

The southpaw all-rounder has played 170 matches across formats in Bangladesh, scored 6045 runs at an average of 36.85, and picked up 336 wickets at an average of 25.88 till the end of the first innings of the third ODI between Bangladesh and West Indies. 

Shakib Al Hasan has close to 12,000 runs and almost 600 wickets for Bangladesh at the highest level.

Bangladesh is currently leading the ODI series 2-0 with the final ODI to be played in Chattogram.
