Indian captain Virat Kohli and his wife Bollywood diva Anushka Sharma were blessed with their first child, a baby girl today (January 11). The couple got married in December 2017 after dating for few years.
Kohli had met Anushka while shooting for a hair shampoo commercial and the duo hit it off. Gradually, the couple moved towards a strong romantic bond and they went to Tuscany, Italy along with their families and close friends for the wedding.
They got engaged on December 11 and got married in traditional style in secret. They then threw reception parties in Delhi, which was attended by Indian PM Narendra Modi and other dignitaries. While another reception party in Mumbai saw the who’s who of Bollywood attending the do.
Anushka was then seen cheering Kohli during the IPL matches and even went to England to cheer for the Indian team and her husband during the 2019 World Cup.
And then on August 27, 2020, both Kohli and Anushka announced the pregnancy, sending their collective fanbase into a tizzy. Anushka traveled to the UAE for the IPL 2020, where Kohli’s teammates in Royal Challenger Bangalore celebrated the news.
And finally, the day arrived when the couple were blessed with their first child. Virat announced the arrival of his daughter on Twitter.
Kohli courted some controversy as he received permission for paternal leave, which allowed him to leave the Australia tour after playing the white-ball series and the first Test in Adelaide. India lost the Test match horribly when they were bowled out for 36 runs in their second innings.
This led to experts and fans criticizing Kohli for leaving the team in the middle of a crisis, but he also received support from other former players and his massive fan base.
