NZ v PAK 2020-21: Kane Williamson is a true role model for any youngster to emulate, says VVS Laxman

India’s Test batting legend VVS Laxman has heaped praise on New Zealand captain Kane Williamson who has been dominating the Test arena, hitting a hundred in every Test he has played this summer.

Laxman, who is the mentor of Williamson at Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL, called the world’s no.1 ranked Test batsman a “true role model for any youngster to emulate” after he hit another brilliant century in whites for his country in the ongoing second Test against Pakistan.

Williamson hammered a record ton in the first Test to go on the top of the ICC Test Rankings for the batsman and continued to dominate the Pakistan bowlers in the ongoing second and final Test at the Hagley Oval.

On Monday, December, the right-hander played an unbeaten knock of 112 runs off 175 balls studded with 16 fours to take the hosts to a commanding position against Pakistan.

Following his century, Laxman took to Twitter to laud one of the best batsmen of the modern-era while praising his “unbelievable work ethics” but said is not at all surprised to see his consistency.

Laxman, who was famous for his wrist work, explained the reason behind the success of Williamson, saying his unbelievable work ethics and attention to detail while preparing for any game are the prime reasons behind his success and consistency at the highest level.

He wrote on Twitter: “Not at all surprised to see the consistency of Kane Williamson. Unbelievable work ethics and attention to detail while preparing for any match are the reasons behind his success. A true role model for any youngster to emulate.”

Noteworthy, New Zealand finished Day 2 at 286/3 with Williamson and Henry Nicholls unbeaten on 112 and 89 respectively after the hosts bundled out Pakistan for 297 in the first innings as Kyle Jamieson scalped five wickets in the ongoing final Test.

For Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Abbas, and Faheem Ashraf scalped one wicket each.
