According to a TOI report, Ganguly is stable after his procedure was performed at Woodlands hospital in Kolkata.

"Ganguly was diagnosed with three blocked coronary arteries after which a stent was inserted in one to remove the blockage," Dr Saroj Mondal, whose team performed the angioplasty, quoted as saying by TOI.

"He will be under strict observation for the next couple of days. We will be taking a decision on our next course of action depending on his improvement. His other parameters are fine and needs to be in the hospital for the next three to four days," he added.

Ganguly was rushed to the hospital as he felt dizzy and experienced chest pain while working out at the gym.

"He had an acute myocardial infarction (MI). We have found three blocks in his heart. We have conducted a primary angioplasty on him and one stent has been inserted. He is awake and absolutely stable," Mondal said.

"He suffered a myocardial infarction while doing the treadmill this morning. He had a similar experience Friday also. He was rushed to the hospital immediately and that helped us a lot in treating him," the doctor further stated.

Widely deemed as one of India’s finest captains, Sourav Ganguly’s health news became the talk of the town and the cricket fraternity queued up on social media to wish him a speedy recovery.

Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, who used to open alongside Ganguly in his playing days, took to Twitter and wrote: “Just got to know about your ailment Sourav. Hope each passing day brings you closer to a full and speedy recovery! Get well soon.”

Ex-India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, who made his debut under Ganguly’s captaincy in 2000, tweeted: “Dada your a fighter ! And you have always shown us the way . Get well soon @SGanguly99”.
