Indian captain Virat Kohli on Monday (December 28) was named by International Cricket Council (ICC) as the Men's ODI Cricketer of the Decade and Male Cricketer of the Decade for his incredible run-scoring consistency in the last ten years.

32-year-old Kohli has scored more than 22,000 international runs across formats with 70 centuries, and remarkably averages above 50 in all three forms of the game. He has been part of India's World Cup 2011 and 2013 Champions Trophy winning teams. He has led the Test team since 2015 and the white-ball teams since 2017.

Kohli has earned the title of 'chase master' for his ability to chase down scores in limited overs cricket and teams often are happy to bowl first against India just to ensure they don't give him the opportunity to bat second. Many experts rate him as the greatest ODI batsman of all-time, even higher than Sachin Tendulkar.

After winning the prestigious ICC Awards on Monday, Kohli reshared a tweet of his from 16th March, 2010 in which he had said that he looks forward to scoring lots of runs for his team. "Looking forward to scoring lots of runs for my Team.." he wrote.

The batting superstar quoted the 10-year-old tweet with a statement in which he thanked his family, coach, friends, BCCI and all the people who stood by him in the decade. He also thanked ICC for the recognition and the fans who voted for him at the ICC Awards.
