ICC names its Test team of the decade; Virat Kohli picked as captain

England duo of Broad and Anderson also named in the Test team of the decade.

Stuart Broad and James Anderson were named in ICC Test team of the decadeThe ICC, today (Dec 27) announced its teams of the decade. They had earlier announced the T20I team of the decade and the ODI team of the decade and then named the much-awaited Test team of the decade as well.

The ICC picked Sir Alastair Cook and David Warner to open the innings, in what are contrasting styles of batting at the display. New Zealand captain Kane Williamson was chosen to bat at number 3.

India’s Virat Kohli was chosen to bat at no.4. Kohli was also named the captain of the Test team of the decade. In fact, he was the sole player to be picked by ICC in all three of its Teams of the decade.

Next came in Steve Smith, the Australian run-machine along with Kumar Sangakkara, who was named the wicketkeeper of the team as well.  Ben Stokes was the lone all-rounder in the team, while India’s R Ashwin was the sole spinner in the team.

The fast bowling contingent included the legends like Dale Steyn, Stuart Broad, and James Anderson, with the England duo being the only active fast bowlers right now with over 500 (Broad) and 600 (Anderson) wickets respectively.
