BCCI's Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) will be conducting online interviews to appoint the three new selectors for senior men's team panel when it meets virtually on Thursday (December 24).
The Indian board's 89th Annual General Meeting (AGM) will also be held on the same day in Ahmedabad.
"The CAC has thus been given an extension to find the new selectors at a time when India are locked in a Test series in Australia, and then host England for a full tour from February," reported the Times of India.
The committee is led by former India pacer and 1983 World Cup winner, Madan Lal, and also comprises of ex left-arm seamer RP Singh as well as Sulakshana Naik, the former women's team player.
"The trio's extension, for another year, is set to be ratified at the AGM," stated the report.
Having chosen Sunil Joshi and Harvinder Singh as national selectors earlier this year, Lal, Singh and Naik will on Thursday interview the likes of Nayan Mongia, Ajit Agarkar, Abey Kuruvilla (West Zone), Maninder Singh, Chetan Sharma and Nikhil Chopra (North Zone) and Ranadeb Bose and Shiv Sunder Das (East Zone) for the three vacant spots in the all-important panel.
Those roped in will be replacing the outgoing selectors, Devang Gandhi (East Zone), Sarandeep Singh (North Zone) and Jatin Paranjape (West Zone).
Currently, Joshi is the chairman of the selection panel because of the greater playing experience. He can, however, be replaced in case the CAC appoints a name with more India matches under his belt as per the newly adopted constitution of the BCCI.
