Former Australia speedster Shoaib Akhtar has opened up on Mohammad Amir's retirement. Amir, who is just 28 years old, decided to quit international cricket after alleged mental torture by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) management.
Akhtar took to Twitter and said he can make Amir better under his guidance. He doesn't want PCB to waste such a good talent. "Give @iamamirofficial under me and then see the wonders he does on the ground. Na zaaya kerain us ko," tweeted Akhtar.
Amir had already quit Test cricket and now he had enough of the PCB management which led to retirement from international cricket for Pakistan. He has ensured to continue playing in a video with Pakistan journalist Shoaib Jatt.
"No, I am not going away from cricket. If you have seen the way the atmosphere over here and the way I have been sidelined. I got a wake-up call there when I was not selected in 35 boys. If I don't get selected in the 35-member squad, then it is a wake-up call for me," Amir said in the video.
The pacer was recently part of the inaugural season of the Lanka Premier League after being left out of the Pakistan side for the New Zealand series.
