New Zealand captain Kane Williamson had recently become the joint no.2 ranked batsman in ICC Test batting rankings with India’s Virat Kohli, after a double-ton against the West Indies in the first Test of the series.
However, he missed the second Test of the series, which New Zealand won, sweeping the series 2-0, as he wanted to be with his wife Sarah for the birth of their first child. This has resulted in Williamson slipping back to the 3rd spot in the rankings.
Virat Kohli is now 9 points ahead of Kane Williamson, who is having 877 rating points. Australia batsman Steve Smith continues to rule the numero uno spot with 911 points.
