An old picture of Virat Kohli's ex-Audi R8 V10 is doing rounds on social media. The car can be seen lying in police impound after being seized from the owner who bought it from Kohli.
Virat used to own this vehicle around eight years back, but he sold it in 2016, as per Cartoq.com. It was bought by Sagar Thakkar, who turned out to be a scamster.
Sagar was arrested in 2018 for masterminding a call center scam. The report from NDTV says, thousands of victims, mostly from South Asia, were extorted by callers pretending to be US tax officers threatening them with arrest and deportation of they did not remit money to the government.
According to the US Department of Homeland Security, Thakkar is said to have extorted nearly $300 million from the scam, which has been operational since 2013.
Police seized the car from Ahmedabad and police also clarified that Kohli had no idea to who he's selling the car. They stated him as an 'innocent seller'.
Virat, the brand ambassador for Audi in India, has cars like Audi RS5, Audi RS6, A8 L, R8 V10 LMX, and Q7 and few more luxury ones.
