Brendan Taylor talked about two of the greatest men wicket-keepers MS Dhoni and Adam Gilchrist's impact on wicket-keeping. He feels Dhoni and Gilchrist inspired a new generation by laying down the template.
The Zimbabwean wicket-keeper batsman had announced his retirement in 2015 but made a comeback in 2017. Speaking to DNA, Taylor said he is making extra effort to enjoy the second innings of his career.
Taylor, who is currently in Sri Lanka for the Lanka Premier League, wants to make the most of his remaining years in cricket.
“I am really giving additional effort to enjoy this second coming of mine. I have not set any real goals for myself but I am making a conscious effort to put my best performances in these remaining years of my active cricketing career,” Taylor said.
About two of the best wicket-keepers produced from India and Australia, the Zimbabwe cricketer added, “Dhoni and Gilly (Gilchrist) laid down the template for the next generation. Although my batting was always stronger than my wicketkeeping, but I love to take up the gloves behind the wicket especially in the T20 format. It also helps my batting to get a good perspective of the entire game as well as the condition and state of the pitch."
