Cricket West Indies (CWI) President Ricky Skerritt on Monday (December 7) that the “West Indies’ upcoming tour of Bangladesh is not finalized yet” and they will take a final call on it this week.

West Indies are scheduled to travel Bangladesh in January 2021 to play three Tests, three One Day Internationals, and two T20 internationals after completing the ongoing New Zealand tour.

It is being said that the CWI wasn’t keen to play the T20Is in Bangladesh and have already asked the Bangladesh Cricket Board to reduce one Test match from the slated series as the West Indies side wants to wrap up the tour as quickly as possible.

Skerritt told Cricbuzz on Monday: “The tour is not finalized. There is no final decision on anything.”

On being asked if they are willing to play only two Tests and three ODIs on the tour, the CWI President said: “The matter is being finalized this week. We have a very packed schedule ahead in 2021 because of the postponement of so much cricket in 2020.”

Meanwhile, CWI’s two-member inspection team was satisfied with BCB’s arrangements about the COVID-19 and security protocols for the upcoming series next month in Bangladesh.

BCB Cricket Operation Chairman Akram Khan said the board is still awaiting CWI’s final call regarding the tour but hinted that some matches of the upcoming series could indeed be reduced.

He signed off by saying, “It's not that they don't want to play but they are not ready to stay here for a long period of time. In the recent past, there was bio-bubble trouble during the England-South Africa series. There is a possibility that the series will proceed without those two T20Is and one Test.”
