England Test captain Joe Root is very interested in India's upcoming Test series down under. India is going to play four Test matches against Australia and the English captain will use it to analyze the conditions there ahead of Ashes 2021-22.

Root has his eyes on the 22-year-old Will Pucovski who can make a debut for Australia in the absence of David Warner. Warner suffered a groin injury during the 2nd ODI against India.

"It will be brilliant to watch two of the best teams in the world going at it, but also the immediate challenges of India, the conditions in Australia, and a few new players," Root said. "All the information we can gather will be vital,” he added.

Although England are focusing on their upcoming tour of Sri Lanka, their prime focus will be the Ashes on Australian soil. "There’s no point hiding from it or trying to make it look like we’re not focused heavily on it, because we are. A lot of thought and planning has gone into things,” Root said, as per The Guardian.

"But it doesn’t mean we’re not looking at what’s coming up this winter [tours to Sri Lanka and India] and, while they’re not similar conditions, some of the challenges we’ll face will stand us in good stead when it comes to walking out at the Gabba.

"Guys will be readying themselves for that, the opportunity of a lifetime. We have a good chance to build up for it. [The 2-2 series draw in 2019] was difficult, with the World Cup beforehand. But there’s no excuses this time. Get it right and we could be in a really strong place going out there,” he added.
