Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi led the Galle Gladiators in the ongoing edition of the Lankan Premier League. He has played three matches in the league so far before having to return back home due to a family emergency.

Afridi announced on Twitter that he will be returning home for a personal emergency and might come back if the situation gets better.

LPL 2020: "Don't indulge in abuse," Shahid Afridi clarifies his conversation with Naveen-Ul-Haq

He wrote, "Unfortunately I have a personal emergency to attend to back home. I will return to join back my team at LPL immediately after the situation is handled. All the best."

The official Twitter handle of the Lankan Premier League later revealed that the emergency was that his daughter is not well and has been admitted to a hospital.

The tweet read, "Do you know the reason for @SAfridiOfficial 's return to the country? His daughter has been admitted to hospital. We pray for speedy recovery #LPL2020"

If the 40-year-old decides to return to Sri Lanka, he will not have to undergo the mandatory 3-day quarantine and can play after clearing the COVID-19 tests.

The reason for the let-off being that he had already contracted the virus earlier and the tests before the start of the LPL revealed that the antibodies were present in Afridi's body.
