Just days after being appointed as Pakistan's captain in Tests, Babar Azam finds himself in hot water as a lady from Lahore accused him of sexual and financial abuse.
In an explosive press conference on Saturday (November 28), the woman named Hamiza Mukhtar claimed that she backed Babar during his tough times and also helped him financially.
She further mentioned that they both grew up in the same neighbourhood and were schoolmates.
According to the alleged victim, Babar had proposed her for marriage in 2010 and they eloped for a court wedding next year. But the ace batsman changed his mind as he rose to fame and was picked in the national team.
Furthermore, the woman accused Babar of physically assaulting her. She also claimed that she paid for the cricketer’s expenses.
The shocking revelations have left the cricket fraternity stunned and it remains to be seen if the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) takes any action against Babar.
Babar Azam is currently in New Zealand with the Pakistan cricket team. The members of the Pakistan squad are serving their 14-day quarantine period.
Pakistan will play New Zealand in three T20Is and two Tests from December 18 to January 9.
