Sri Lanka's all-new T20 tournament called the Lankan Premier League (LPL) is about a week away and there is a lot of changes of personnel happening around the squads and officials.

Former South African cricketer Herschelle Gibbs was all set to take part in the inaugural edition of the LPL as a commentator. However, things took a drastic turn and he has now taken up the job of the coach for the Colombo-based franchise Colombo Kings.

LPL 2020: Chris Gayle pulls out of Lanka Premier League; Kandy Tuskers confirm

Initially, Kabir Ali was named as the head coach of the Kings. However, he tested positive for COVID-19 and had to miss out on the opportunity. The team management was lucky to have found Gibbs fit and fine to take the important job.

A lot of players and coaches have still not confirmed whether they will be available for the tournament or not, which is leading to such changes. The Colombo Kings had appointed former veteran Sri Lankan left-arm pacer Chaminda Vaas as their assistant coach.

Vaas pulled out of the tournament and opened up the vacancy. The Kings have appointed another veteran Sri Lankan cricketer, Rangana Herath in place of Vaas. The spinner will be the assistant coach of Colombo for LPL 2020.

In other major changes in player personnel in the LPL, T20 legend Chris Gayle has pulled out of the tournament leaving the Kandy Tuskers while the Sri Lankan great Lasith Malinga has his participation under the cloud.
