Delhi Capitals (DC) assistant coach Mohammad Kaif has backed off-spinner R Ashwin to play for India in the limited-overs format. The former India cricketer posted a tweet and counted the big names Ashwin has dismissed in IPL 2020.
Kaif feels Ashwin can easily make into the squad and add value with his bowling in T20Is. The offie hasn't featured in India's white-ball squad in a long time. He last played an ODI and T20I for India in 2017.
"Virat, Rohit, Pollard, Gayle, Warner, QDK, Karun, Buttler, Smith, Paddikal, Pooran. Read and re-read @ashwinravi99’s list of big scalps from IPL 13, mostly in power plays", wrote Kaif.

He added that Ashwin should be tried in T20Is again. "Feel Ash can still be a valuable asset for India in T20Is", he added.
Ashwin picked up 13 wickets in the IPL 2020 with an average of 23.53 and an economy of 7.66. As Kaif mentioned, the off-spinner managed to pick crucial wickets for his team who lasted in the tournament till the final.
