Veteran Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has on Monday (November 16) insisted that the criticism and questions about his future and age don’t have any impact on his game, rather, it has only spurred him to become a better version of himself.

40-year-old Hafeez has been producing some great performances for Pakistan as well as the T20 franchise sides despite being in the twilight of his cricketing career and the all-rounder wants to continue playing till he feels that he has the hunger to be there.

Presently, Hafeez plays only white-ball cricket since retiring from Test cricket a few years back and is now aiming to represent Pakistan in the 2021 T20 World Cup after being selected for the upcoming New Zealand tour next month for three T20Is and Tests.

Pakistan selectors dropped seniors like Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Aamir, and Asad Shafiq but kept the all-rounder for the tour given his recent performance both at the highest and domestic level.

As per PTI, Hafeez said: “I have always taken it as a challenge to do better when faced with criticism or questions over my age and future. It has spurred me on to become a better player.”

He signed off, “I have always played cricket with an open mind and without any fear from anyone. I am happy that even after reaching 40, I am still enjoying the game and also contributing to my teams.”
