Legendary pacer Shoaib Akhtar has slammed the Pakistan team for their “embarrassing” super over loss to Zimbabwe in the third and final One Day International (ODI) in Rawalpindi on Tuesday (November 3).

Pakistan led by Babar Azam started off their home white-ball campaign on a positive note, winning both the first and second ODI but failed to win the super over against Zimbabwe in the final ODI on Tuesday.

Batting first, Zimbabwe post a good total of 278/6 on the back of Seam Williams’ brilliant century and Brendan Taylor and Sikandar Raza’s 56 and 45 respectively against Men in Green in Rawalpindi.

Chasing 279, Pakistan found it really tough to bat except skipper Babar (125) and Wahab Riaz (52) against Zimbabwe bowling attack that was on point on Tuesday, as Blessing Muzarabani made the difference with the ball in both games, taking 5/49 scalps in the original game and then 2/2 wickets in super over to clinch the game for the visitors.

In the super over, Pakistan managed to score only two runs off Muzarabani and then Taylor and Raza wrapped up the game for Zimbabwe in three balls in Rawalpindi. However, Men in Green have already clinched the ODI series with 2-1 against Zimbabwe.

After Pakistan’s shocking super over loss to Zimbabwe, Shoaib slammed the team by calling the defeat “embarrassing”, ruing Babar and his team wasn’t “expressive” on Tuesday. The legendary bowler said Pakistan will have to be progressive if they want to avoid becoming history.

He wrote on Twitter, “Embarrassing. Losing to Zimbabwe is an issue. You lose some, you win some however you have to be progressive. We weren’t expressive. Change your mentality before you become history ..”

Noteworthy, Pakistan and Zimbabwe will now lock horns in a three-match T20I series starting on Saturday (November 7) in Lahore.
