Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has finally received the green signal from their government for the upcoming scheduled tour of Pakistan later this month for the limited-overs series.

The ZC has on Wednesday (September 23) confirmed that the board has received the go-ahead for the upcoming Pakistan tour through an official letter from Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) Director-General Prince Mupazviriho.

Zimbabwe will tour Pakistan in October-November for a white-ball series.

However, the SRC stressed on the need to ensure all COVID-19 precautionary measures are followed, both during the camps as well as on the tour for the safety of the players and support staff.

Meanwhile, the ZC Chairman Tavenga Mukuhlani was delighted with the latest development and acknowledged the Government's support amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mukuhlani further added, “We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to our Minister of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation, the Honourable Kirsty Coventry, the SRC and the entire Government of Zimbabwe for authorizing the tour. Needless to say, we at ZC are bursting with excitement as we look forward to playing cricket again and representing our nation with pride and passion in Pakistan.”

Noteworthy, Zimbabwe has already started preparations for the Pakistan series consisting of three ODIs and as many as T20Is with a 25-member training camp starting in Harare on Tuesday (September 22).

It is being said that Zimbabwe will reach Pakistan on October 20 while the tour begins with the first ODI – as part of ICC's Cricket World Cup Super League, on October 30, November 1, and 3 followed by the T20I series scheduled on November 7, 8 and 10 respectively.
