Ian Bell bids adieu to his First-Class career with an emotional message

Former England cricketer Ian Bell hanged his boots from First-Class cricket after a splendid 22nd season for Warwickshire. He scored 50 & 90 in his final fixture against the Glamorgan side in the Bob Willis trophy.

During a FC career that began in 1999, Bell scored 20,440 runs in 524 innings for Warwickshire and England. He finished his career with a batting average of 43.52 after scoring 57 hundreds and 105 fifties.

After his last game that ended on 9 September, Ian Bell has been responding to all the messages, tweets and texts that he has been receiving from cricket fans and family.

He put out two tweets on 11 September thanking everybody for making it the 'proudest week of his life'.

The 38-year-old wrote, "Right, where do I start? Aside from the small detail of playing my final ever red ball game, I’ve needed this week to take everything in. The messages, calls, tweets, news articles, TV features etc, have been absolutely mind blowing and I can’t begin to thank everyone enough."

"The sheer number of kind words has been humbling and I won’t deny it’s been an emotional week. Thank you for everything. I will do my best to reply to as many messages as possible, but please accept my warmest thanks for making this one of the proudest weeks of my life x," read his second tweet.
