The much-awaited 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will finally kick-off from September 19. The IPL 2020 was earlier postponed during March because of the COVID-19 pandemic rise in India.

But now, after a wait of five months and a lot of speculations, the tournament is set to take place in UAE. Former India cricketer and current BCCI president Sourav Ganguly want to make sure there is no lapse in the safety of players and the preparation for IPL is going right by visiting Dubai.

On Wednesday, Ganguly left for Dubai and it was his first flight in the last six months only because of the IPL. He posed for a picture wearing a mask and face shield, and wrote, “My first flight in 6 months to Dubai for IPL...crazy life changes."

The tournament needed a lot of clearance before ensuring it will be played this year. Players from Australia and England will also be joining their respective franchises soon. But they will have to undergo a mandatory six-day quarantine before taking part.

In the first match of IPL 2020, defending champions Mumbai Indians will face Chennai Super Kings. The whole tournament will be played at three venues -- Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi.
