ENG v AUS 2020: "Jos Buttler's someone we're going to have to plan for", says Mitchell Starc

ENG v AUS 2020: "Jos Buttler's someone we're going to have to plan for", says Mitchell Starc

Buttler's outstanding innings gave England a 2-0 T20I series lead with win on Sunday.

Jos Buttler | GettyAfter Jos Buttler's magnificent knock made short work of Australia's 157/7 in the second T20I and gave England a series-winning 2-0 lead, pacer Mitchell Starc said the visitors are hoping to come up with a strong enough plan to counter the explosive right-hander's threat for the rest of the trip.

Buttler's innings of 77 not out off 54 deliveries while opening the innings helped England sail through the run chase in quest of the 158-run target and win by six wickets in Southampton this Sunday (September 6).

Ahead of the third and final T20I on Tuesday, Starc said the Aussies are definitely wary of him but also intent on bouncing back with a tactic.

"He's someone we're going to have to plan for the third game, and obviously the one-dayers as well," cricket.com.au quoted Starc as saying.

"When you get someone striking the way he has for the last two games, it's obviously powerful for T20 cricket in such a short format. We'll have to chat as a group tomorrow," he added.

The ever-modest Buttler, though, was just happy contributing towards the team's cause.

"I've had most of my success in T20 at the top, but that's natural - if you bat in the top three in T20, it's the best place for everyone."

"We've probably got eight or nine guys who'd stick their hand up to bat in the top three; I'm very happy there, but I'm also very happy to do whatever the team needs of me," he added.
