Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli’s bat-repairer Ashraf Chaudhary tests positive for COVID-19

Ashraf has been admitted to the Seven Hills Hospital in suburban Andheri.

Ashraf Chaudhary is battling COVID-19 | TwitterPopular bat-maker Ashraf Chaudhary, who has repaired willows for legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli, has tested positive for the novel Coronavirus.

According to a PTI report, Ashraf has been admitted to the Seven Hills Hospital in suburban Andheri and is suffering from multiple illnesses. He is said to be in his 60s.

Earlier, Ashraf was admitted to a suburban hospital in Chembur but Tendulkar came to his help and made sure that he was shifted to a facility specifically designated to treat the deadly virus.

"He (the bat-maker) tested COVID-19 positive in the hospital in Chembur upon which Tendulkar spoke to me and requested me to shift him to the Seven Hills Hospital, which is a dedicated COVID facility," Dr Bhujang Pai, Head of Radiology, Seven Hills Hospital, told PTI on Friday (September 4).

"We have shifted Ashraf Chacha to the hospital and are closely monitoring his condition," he added.

When his treatment was going on at the Chembur hospital, Tendulkar had reportedly helped Ashraf financially.

The report also says that Seven Hills Hospital Dean Dr Balkrishna Adsul is monitoring Ashraf's treatment.

Ashraf Chaudhary has repaired bats of several famous cricketers but the COVID-19 pandemic took a massive toll on his health and business. The bat-maker also owns a shop in South Mumbai.
