England’s star batsman Jason Roy was ruled out of the upcoming home three-match Twenty20 International series against Pakistan with a left side strain on Thursday (August 27).
The Surrey top-order batsman sustained a left side strain during this week’s practice at Emirates Old Trafford and had a scan on Wednesday that revealed the injury.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has confirmed the latest development on Thursday on its official website but didn’t name any replacement for Roy for the upcoming T20I series against Pakistan.
However, the ECB has confirmed that Roy will remain with the England set-up and will commence his rehabilitation program keeping in mind the upcoming white-ball series comprising 3 ODIs and as many as T20Is against Australia, starting on 4th September at The Ageas Bowl.
Noteworthy, the first T20I between England and Pakistan will be held at The Ageas Bowl on Friday (August 28) followed by further two T20Is on Sunday and Tuesday respectively.
Joe Root and his team recently won the three-match Test series against Pakistan 1-0 at home after clinching Test series and ODI series against West Indies and Ireland respectively.
England is the first international team that has been regularly playing matches at home despite ongoing Coronavirus outbreak since returning from COVID-19 forced break in March 2020.
