Veteran West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo on Wednesday (August 26) became the first bowler in history to take 500 T20 wickets, during the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2020 league encounter between Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) and St. Lucia Zouks.
Bravo, who plays for TKR, dismissed Rahkeem Cornwall to achieve the milestone in his 459th match. He also completed 100 wickets in the CPL with this wicket. No other bowler has yet touched the 400 mark in the shortest format, so the all-rounder is sure to stay at the top for a long time. Sri Lanka's Lasith Malinga is second with 390 wickets to his name.
Bravo has represented many champion T20 teams over the years, and is a two-time T20 World Cup winner with West Indies. He played his first match in the format in 2006, and has also scored over 6000 runs with the bat at a strike-rate of almost 127.
He had retired from international cricket, but reversed his decision after good friend Kieron Pollard took over as the white-ball captain of West Indies.
