Ajit Agarkar wants Virat Kohli to achieve this feat in Test cricket before he retires

Kohli has scored 7240 runs and 27 tons in 86 Tests so far.

Virat Kohli | GettyIt requires some serious effort to score 300 runs in a single innings of Test cricket. 27 batsmen from eight of the twelve Test-cricket playing nations have achieved this feat so far.

From India, only two batsmen have reached this milestone – Virender Sehwag (2 times) and Karun Nair (1 time).

So, who will be the next Indian batsman to score a triple century in the longest format? Former India pacer Ajit Agarkar wants current skipper Virat Kohli to achieve this feat before he calls time on his international career.

“I hope Virat Kohli gets a triple hundred in Test cricket before he finishes his career. We have had three so far from Indians, two from Virender Sehwag and one from Karun Nair. But for all the achievements that Virat Kohli has had and clearly he has enough energy to go and get that triple hundred,” Agarkar said on Star Sports’ ‘Cricket Connected’ chat show.

”I hope he does that before he ends his career. But look there are going to be a few records that are going to be broken before he finishes.”

Notably, Kohli has the most number of double hundreds (7) among Indians in Test cricket. In 86 Tests so far, he has amassed 7240 runs at an average of 53.62, including 27 tons with the best score of 254 not out.

Commenting on Virat Kohli’s evolution since arriving in international cricket 12 years ago, Agarkar said: “You said 12 years, it feels like 20 years that he has been playing. It is incredible how he has progressed from when he came into the team to where he is at this point. And rightly so he is one of the best batsmen in the world if not the best.”
