Ex-Pakistan cricketers have made some surprising statements over the last 4-5 months. Comments from the likes of Javed Miandad and Shoaib Akhtar were enough to show the lockdown effect is real.

Akhtar once said he wanted to fight Kargil War for Pakistan and had given up a 175,000-pound contract with Nottingham for his country. But Miandad topped him by claiming that he made former Pakistan captain Imran Khan the Prime Minister of the country.

Miandad also slammed Imran for his poor leadership as the country’s Prime Minister. But now he has apologized for his comments after Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appointed his nephew, Faisal Iqbal, as one of its head coaches for the domestic teams.

“If I have offended anyone, I apologize for my words, especially to the prime minister because I was angry about Pakistan’s performance in the first Test against England,” Miandad said.

He added, “I have full respect for prime minister and Pakistan cricket fans all over the world.”

Even former India cricketer Madan Lal had called Javed Miandad mentally unstable for his comments against Imran Khan.
