As soon as the legendary MS Dhoni called time on his international career on Saturday (August 15), cricket fans and other eminent personalities asked for a farewell match for one of India’s greatest cricketers.
While it is unlikely that Dhoni will get to play a farewell game for India, ex-India batsman VVS Laxman reckons the former skipper’s goodbye match will be in Chepauk, the home of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings.

Laxman also feels that Dhoni's last competitive outing will be for CSK whenever that happens.
"Till the time he is going to play cricket, he will be captaining CSK. I think each and every movement of MS Dhoni will be watched very closely, will be relished by each and every cricketing fan of his. So, they will enjoy each and every moment MS Dhoni spends on the cricket field," VVS Laxman told Star Sports Cricket Connected.
"Number one is we all have to recognise that he (Dhoni) is very passionate about CSK. One of the reasons CSK has been the most successful franchise has been MS Dhoni's leadership.
"So, he will go out and he will do everything possible for CSK to win the trophy. But as far as the fans are concerned, I think the euphoria will be there to be seen.
"I think MS Dhoni's farewell game will be whenever he plays his last match for CSK. And I can tell you for sure, just like the way Sachin had that farewell match at the Wankhede, I think the farewell match will be at the Chepauk," he further remarked.
While Dhoni is yet to issue a statement on his IPL future, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan earlier this month said the veteran wicketkeeper will be part of the T20 league in 2021 and 2022.
"Yes. We can expect MS Dhoni to be part of both (IPL 2020 and 2021) and probably for even the next year -- 2022," Viswanathan had told indiatoday.in.
"I am getting updates through the media only, saying he has been training in Jharkhand in indoor nets. But we don't have to worry about the skipper, boss. We don't worry about him at all. He knows his responsibilities and he will take care of himself and the team," he added.
