ENG v PAK 2020: Chris Jordan, Dawid Malan part of England's squad for T20I series

The three-match T20I series will be played in Manchester from August 28.

Chris Jordan | GettyEngland has announced a 14-man squad to contest the three-match T20I series against Pakistan, starting August 28, with the noticeable inclusion of left-hand batsman Dawid Malan, pacer Chris Jordan and the return of left-arm swing bowler David Willey.

Manchester's Old Trafford ground will host the matches behind closed doors due to COVID-19 threat in a series where Eoin Morgan's team will be missing all of the big names due to just the three-day turnaround from the third and final Test of the ongoing series versus the visitors in Southampton, finishing August 25.

“In this crowded international summer, players who are currently in the test match bio-secure bubble for the Pakistan test series are not included in this squad,” national selector Ed Smith said in a statement issued by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

"We want to give multi-format players some opportunity to rest and refresh, while still selecting strong squads for every series."

The ECB also confirmed that assistant coach Graham Thorpe will take the role of head coach for these T20Is, with Chris Silverwood given required rest, while Paul Collingwood, who took charge as head coach for ODIs against Ireland, appointed Thorpe's assistant and Marcus Trescothick made batting coach.

Apart from Malan and Jordan, most of the players who faced the Irish have been picked for the series.

The second and third T20Is will be played on August 30 and September 1.
