Former India coach Gary Kirsten paid rich tributes to recently retired former India captain MS Dhoni by calling him “one of the best leaders” in cricket.
The combination of Kirsten and Dhoni led India to their second World Cup title in 2011 apart from many other jubilant victories both at home and overseas.
Dhoni, who retired from Tests in 2014, called time on his international career on August 15, 2020, more than a year after he played his final ODI against New Zealand in the semi-final of 2019 World Cup.

“I would go to war with Dhoni by my side, “Kirsten had once said about MS Dhoni in 2011.
“A privilege to work with one of the best leaders I have come across. Thanks MS for many fond memories with the Indian Cricket Team @msdhoni,” 52-year-old South African Kirsten tweeted.
Gary Kirsten was brought in as India coach in 2008 and formed a brilliant partnership with MS Dhoni who was also given the reins of the Test team after the retirement of Anil Kumble. Together, the duo made India one of the most successful teams during that era.
