Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina pay tribute to left-handed legends on World Left-handers day

August 13 is celebrated as World Left-handers Day.

Yuvraj Singh had a fine career for India from 2000-2017August 13 is celebrated as the World Left-handers Day globally and recognizes the people who have the unique trait of using their left hand for doing most of their tasks.

On this day, India’s left-handed batsmen Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina took to social media and shared their four favorite left-handers of all time. The duo paid tribute to some of the ‘greatest left-handed’ cricketers and asked the fans to add more names to this golden list.

Yuvraj Singh named West Indies legend Brian Lara, the only batsman to make 400 runs in one Test innings as one of his four left-handers. He then named the explosive Australian opening pair of Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden, both considered to be one of the best batsmen of their era.

Yuvraj then named his former captain, Sourav Ganguly, under whom he made his India debut in 2000. Ganguly played over 311 ODIs and 113 Tests for India from 1992-2008 scoring 7212 Test and 11363 ODI runs with a total of 38 centuries.

Suresh Raina, who is the first Indian to score a century in all three international formats and made a ton on his Test debut in 2010, also paid tributes to left-handed legends.

Then came Pakistan’s Saeed Anwar, who once held the record for the highest ODI score of 194 and was one of the pillars of Pakistani batting in the 90s.

Raina then named England legend David Gower, who was known for his silken batting style and Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara, who is one of the two batsmen to score a triple century and a century in the same Test match. ‘
