Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 has got clearance from the government to be held in UAE but there is another challenge ahead to ensure the safety of the players during the tournament.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni got tested for COVID-19 ahead of their IPL 2020 camp in Chennai. He underwent a test on Wednesday and the report is expected to come by today (Thursday).
Before reaching the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the tournament, it is important to make sure the players get tested negative for Coronavirus.
Dhoni's sample was taken by the micro praxis lab at private Guru Nanak hospital from his farmhouse in Ranchi. Apart from the CSK captain, his teammate Monu Kumar Singh also gave his sample.
Both the players will travel to Chennai for the five-day CSK camp if they get a negative result. Sources in the Guru Nanak Hospital said the test report of both the players is expected to come by Thursday afternoon.
Dhoni will stay with the Super Kings franchise as a captain at least till 2022. It was confirmed by the CEO of CSK, Kasi Viswanathan. “We don’t worry about him at all. Yes, we can expect MS Dhoni to be part of both (IPL 2020 and 2021) and probably for even the next year, 2022,” he said.
