Bengal batsman Manoj Tiwary had missed out on ODI debut for India because of injury during training on Bangladesh tour back in 2007. He was in his early 20s and he couldn't hold his tears as he returned to the hotel.

Tiwary had to miss out on his dream India debut because of a dislocated shoulder. He was in good touch and the unfortunate incident delayed his debut by almost a year. He finally made his India debut in 2008 against Australia during the Commonwealth Bank Series.

“I was in great form, I was in a great rhythm, but I had to miss out because of my anterior labrum tear. That day I went to my hotel room and cried,” Tiwary told SportsKeeda during an interview.

Tiwary was the star for Bengal during the 2006-07 Ranji Trophy season. He scored 796 runs in 7 seven matches with an average of 99.5. His performance had grabbed attention which opened doors to the Indian cricket team for him.

Unfortunately, he got dismissed on just 2 runs against Australia and waited another 3 years for an opportunity. “When we went to Australia, most of the middle order was not getting runs. There was enough space in the middle order that I could have fit in along with these guys,” Tiwary said.

Manoj made it to the Indian side in 2011 after Yuvraj Singh opted out of the West Indies series. He scored a match-winning hundred against West Indies but had to sit out of the team for the next 14 matches.

The 34-year-old has last played an international match for India in 2015. Tiwary has also not featured in the Indian Premier League for the last two seasons.
