Former India spinner Anil Kumble used to bowl at a good pace and the opposition batsman didn't have the liberty to adjust quickly as they had against other slow spinners.
Kumble used to trouble the opponents a lot and former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar said the batsmen feared him like they would against Brett Lee.
Speaking in Star Sports' show Cricket Connected, Manjrekar said Kumble created a lot of buzz in first-class cricket because of his bouncers.
“He was already been talked about by everyone that there is this tall leg-spinner but he is not quite like a leg-spinner.”

“And I remember there were some first-class performances where people were talking about him bowling bouncers on some of those domestic pitches,” said Manjrekar.
Manjrekar, who faced Kumble in Ranji Trophy, added that a batsman had to tackle the lanky spinner like against any threatening fast bowler. “People were fending the ball as they would against Brett Lee. So, his reputation preceded him,” added Manjrekar.
Kumble is India's highest wicket-taker with 619 wickets in 132 Tests and 337 wickets in 271 ODIs.
