Pakistan cricket has already suffered a lot because of terrorism | GettyTerrorism has once again come back to haunt Pakistan cricket as an incident of shooting sabotaged the final of a local tournament on Friday (August 7).

The unfortunate incident took place during the final of the Amn Cricket tournament at the Dradar Mamazai area at Orakzai District in Kohat Division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan.

According to a report published in Pakistani news outlet The News International, eyewitnesses said that a large number of spectators, including political workers and media persons, were present at the ground for the summit clash. And as soon as the game started, the terrorists opened indiscriminate firing on the playground from the nearby hills.

The players, spectators and journalists, they added, saved their lives by fleeing the scene.

A spectator said that the firing was so intense that the organisers were left with no choice but to end the game. Luckily, no loss of life or injury was reported in the incident.

Pakistan cricket has already suffered a lot because of terrorism in the country. Pakistan had to play their home games in UAE for almost a decade following the terrorist attack on Sri Lankan team bus in 2009.

It was only last year that PCB started to host leading teams like Sri Lanka in the country and also staged the entire 2020 edition of PSL in Pakistan.
