St Kitts and Nevis Patriots received a major setback even before the start of the next month’s Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2020, as all-rounder Fabian Allen was ruled out of the tournament after missing his flight from Jamaica to Barbados.

All the participants, including players, staff and officials, in the CPL 2020 are required to self-isolate for two weeks before they board their flights, and for two weeks upon arrival in Trinidad and Tobago before the start of the CPL 2020 on August 18 in a wake of COVID-19 pandemic.

Well, Allen was due to reach Barbados on an internal flight on Monday (August 3) before boarding the chartered plane to Trinidad, but unfortunately, the all-rounder was late to the airport and missed his flight.

The star spinner now has to miss the entire tournament as nobody is able to come in or out of the Trinidad and Tobago other than on those charter flights due to the tight COVID-19 lockdown rules and even he can’t be replaced in St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.

Allen's agent confirmed to ESPNCricinfo on Thursday (August 6): “Unfortunately there was some confusion with his understanding of the flight details and he missed the flight. We explored all possibilities, but due to the pandemic and travel restrictions in Trinidad, the charter flight on Monday was the only way he could enter the country.”

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots’ head coach Simon Helmot will also not be available for the tournament after testing positive for COVID-19.

Noteworthy, all CPL 2020 participants are currently quarantining in the Hilton hotel in Port-of-Spain, while all 33 matches will take place from 18th August to 10th September 2020 in Trinidad & Tobago.
