Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar on Monday (August 3) said the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Team Management have erred in appointing Younis Khan as the batting coach of the national team.

He further claimed that Younis “has wrongly been made batting coach” of the Pakistan team, saying his former Pakistan teammate isn’t a suitable one for the role, as he feels the top position should have given to another batting great Mohammad Yousuf.

The former pacer has also suggested that Younis should have been training youngsters in the national academy instead of coaching the senior team.

As per Cricket Pakistan, Akhtar said on a local Pakistan news channel: “Younis Khan has wrongly been made batting coach; he should be training players in the National Academy with Mohammad Yousuf as the Pakistan batting coach.”

The outspoken former pacer also said the “PCB is mismanaged”.

Shoaib signed off by saying, “The more you keep good people away, the further cricket will go downhill. If I got a chance to work in PCB, I'd bring in foreign investment. I would work for free and ensure that no one calls me up and tells me to select their kid.”
