Former India captain Mohammed Azharuddin has recently opined on the comparisons between Indian captain Virat Kohli and Pakistan’s white-ball skipper Babar Azam.

Azam is undoubtedly an incredible talent who has built his image as one of the most delightful batsmen to watch, as well as, emerged as one of the best batsmen in white-ball cricket in a very short span of time with his match-winning performances.

On the other hand, Kohli is already a legend of the game who has achieved numerous accolades with his incredible batting in all three formats of the game and there will no doubt be plenty more to come from the dashing batsman across the formats in the coming years.

Well, Babar’s remarkable consistency and run-making ability have seen him often being compared to Kohli with many believe that Pakistan captain has all the potential to become one of the most elegant batsmen like Indian captain who owns modern-day cricket.

Reacting to the debate, Azharuddin said he doesn’t believe in comparisons, but claimed Babar has the potential to become one of the greatest batsmen in Pakistan cricket in the future.

Azharuddin was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan: “Babar is still young and has a lot of cricket ahead of him. He has the ability to become a top batsman and register his name among the great Pakistani batsmen of the past.”

He signed off by saying, “I don't believe in comparisons. If a batsman is good, then his batting should be enjoyed and he should be praised rather than comparing him with someone else.”
