Australia great Ricky Ponting had started the count to 41 Test hundreds on 26 July 1997. He smashed his first Test century at Headingley against England. Australia had won the Test match by an innings and 61 runs.
The former Australia captain took to Twitter on Sunday to freshen up the memories of his special knock. Ponting wrote he was nervous while inching close to the hundred.

"My first Test ton and an Ashes one, 23 years ago to the day. Being on 99 that day was the most nervous I think I ever was, but thankfully I had Matthew Elliott at the other end to help guide me through as he went on to a magnificent 199," Ponting tweeted.
Apart from 41 Test hundreds, Ponting has 30 ODI hundreds as well. He played 168 Test matches and his highest score was 257. The century count for him in Test is just second to Sachin Tendulkar.
Ponting last played a Test match in 2012 against South Africa at home. He bid adieu to international cricket with an illustrious career.
