"Once a Protea, always a Protea", Imran Tahir clarifies his "disappointed to not play for Pakistan" comment

The Lahore-born Tahir shifted to South Africa in 2005 at the age of 26.

South Africa spinner Imran Tahir has made it clear that he tried his best to play for Pakistan but they didn't give him chance in a tweet. Tahir thanked Cricket South Africa for giving him an opportunity for which he forever grateful.

Tahir's tweets came after a recent comment in which the spinner said he wanted to play for Pakistan. "I used to play cricket in Lahore and it played a major role in where I am. I played most of my cricket in Pakistan but did not get a chance here, for which I am disappointed," he had told Geo Super.

But clarifying his comment, he posted a couple of tweets and wrote, "I would like to clarify this to people. I tried my best to represent Pakistan but unfortunately didn’t happen.CSA gave me an opportunity to realise my dreams of playing international cricket for which I am grateful the rest of my life. Once a protea is a protea forever @OfficialCSA."

In the second tweet, Tahir hinted he wants to win a T20 World Cup trophy for South Africa. "I am not done yet with the proteas. I am still looking forward playing for them in t20 format if ppl feel I still have it in me. And my main aim is to give all I have to see SA winning a t20 wc", he wrote.
