"Imran Khan was unplayable when ball-tampering was legal," says Arun Lal

Arun Lal mentioned the qualities of Imran which makes him a suited leader of Pakistan cricket.

Imran Khan

Former India cricketer-turned-commentator Arun Lal talked about the time when former Pakistan captain and one of the greatest all-rounders, Imran Khan's bowling was unplayable.

Lal mentioned Imran used to make it hard for the batters to tackle him when ball-tampering was legal. His reverse swing left batsmen clueless and they couldn't counter.

Speaking to Sportskeeda, Arun recalled the spell of Imran against the Indian cricket team. “It was very very difficult. That was a different era, the bowling era. All teams had bowlers who were exceptionally good,” he said.

Lal said Imran swung the ball so much that it would beat his bat by 6-8 inches sometimes. “Imran Khan to me was the toughest, especially after the concept of reverse swing started. They were the first ones to use it, unfortunately, it also came to ball-scruffing, which later became illegal.”, he said.

Arun Lal, who played 16 Tests for India, has seen Imran's charisma. "Imran was very fit and had an enormous physicality to him on the ground. From ’82 onwards, it was his time. His presence, personality, and the way he came into the bowl were fantastic to see. He was captaining as well, everything was going the way he wanted to.”
