Nasser Hussain sarcastically thanks Yuvraj Singh for sharing photos of India’s NatWest 2002 victory

18 years ago this was the highest chase by an Indian team in a final of a tri-series at that time.

A distraught Hussain looks as Kaif celebrates after the winOn this day, July 13, in 2002, a glorious chapter was written in gold in Indian cricket history as a young team chased down the 326-run target in a high voltage final against England at Lord’s during the 2002 NatWest triangular series.

Sourav Ganguly’s young team toppled favorites England in the final despite Trescothick and Hussain making centuries. Then some brilliant English bowling reduced India to five wickets down for not many runs, when Yuvraj Singh and Mohammad Kaif came together and added a brilliant century partnership.

This brought India back in the game and while Yuvraj fell for a nice fifty, Kaif continued on to make 80-odd unbeaten runs and took the team past the finishing line with just two wickets in hand.

Yuvraj Singh, one of the heroes of the match, shared a collage of some moments of celebrations from that final on Twitter. However, being the mischief master that he is, he didn’t forget to tag England’s captain in that match, Nasser Hussain as well.

#Throwback to Natwest 2002 Final. Jaan laga di thi sab ne mil ke! We were young and we wanted to win. It was a wonderful team effort that helped us beat England and clinch the trophy in this nail-biting game @nassercricket just in case you forgot,” Yuvraj tweeted.

Showing some great British etiquettes, Hussain, replied with a more courteous,” Some lovely photos mate .. thanks for sharing
