Team India under the leadership of Virat Kohli are doing wonders lately, be it in Test cricket or limited-overs formats. They were the numero uno Test side until recently for close to four years and are few points behind top-ranked England in the ICC ODI rankings.
Despite such a level of domination, there is one thing missing from the cabinet. Kohli and company have failed to lift an ICC trophy as of now. While the Men in Blue lost the final of ICC Champions Trophy 2017 to arch-rivals Pakistan, they suffered a heartbreaking defeat at the hands of New Zealand in the first semi-final of World Cup 2019.

However, leg-spinner Piyush Chawla, was part of India's 2011 World Cup-winning squad, reckons it's only a matter of time before the Kohli-led side end the ICC trophy drought.
"Well, we all know what kind of a player he [Virat Kohli] is, he's a brilliant player. A tournament (win) is not far, I can see it in the way the team is playing. When you see the 2019 World Cup also, it was just one bad day, and you can't really say," Chawla said in an exclusive chat on Sportskeeda Cricket's Facebook page.
"It was unfortunate for the Indian audience and the team that it came in the World Cup semi-final. But if you see overall the team has done very well under Virat, in Test, ODI and T20 cricket. He has done really well. The big trophy is not far, I can see it coming anytime soon. Definitely, it will. Mark my words, it will come soon," he added.
It is worth mentioning here that the Indian cricket team haven’t won a global tournament since 2013 despite making it to the final four in each of the ICC events thereafter.
The international cricket resumed with the England-West Indies Test series on July 8, but Team India are yet to hit the ground running with a proper camp in wake of the Coronavirus pandemic.
It has been more than four months since India’s last international assignment. While there is no clarity on their next fixture yet, one thing is certain that the team will tour Australia later this year to play four Tests, three ODIs and three T20Is.
