Former India all-rounder Laxmi Ratan Shukla has revealed that his wife has tested positive for COVID-19. Shukla further revealed that his family members are in quarantine now and will get tested next week.
"Yes, my wife Smita has tested positive for COVID-19. She has a mild fever and is taking prescribed medicines. I, our two sons and my aged father have quarantined us at home. We will get ourselves tested for COVID-19 on Thursday," Shukla, a minister in West Bengal government, told PTI.
Shukla, who played three ODIs in 1999, had made his India debut against Sri Lanka in Nagpur. He also made it to the Test team but remained uncapped in that format. A domestic veteran, Shukla played 137 first-class and 141 List A matches.

He scored 6217 runs and scalped 172 wickets in red-ball cricket. In 141 List A matches, Shukla scored 2997 runs and scalped 143 wickets. He also captained Bengal.
In IPL, the 39-year-old played for Delhi Daredevils, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders. He was a member of KKR's playing XI in the IPL final in 2012.
The news comes just a few weeks after it was reported that Sourav Ganguly's brother Snehasish Ganguly had tested positive for the Coronavirus. However, the news turned out to be a hoax as the former cricketer denied it.
West Bengal has witnessed nearly 26,000 cases of COVID-19 patients. A couple of days back, the state government announced a seven-day lockdown in containment zones. The death toll in the state stands at 854.
